Welcome to moneysmart, LiveJournal's personal finance community!
The purpose of this community is to serve as resource and discussion forum for LiveJournal members interested in getting their personal finances in order. With today's shaky economy and job market, one can never be too careful. The more organized you keep your money, the better off you will be in the event of job loss, an unexpected emergency, or if a large expense comes up. Anyone is welcome and membership and posting are currently being left un-moderated.
After you join make a brief post introducing yourself so we can get to know you and your goals!
Please tag all entries so that as our community grows, members will be able to easily find postings on relevant topics.
Stay on topic! Posts should only relate to money. Anything off topic will be deleted.
Feel free to post to track progress.
You might not always get the advice you want to hear; handle it like an adult. If you have a lot of credit card debt from not-so-smart purchases, people will tell you that. Be mature and be willing to make the changes that may be suggested to you. If you want your situation to change, tough love could be what it takes to wake you up!
That said, be respectful of each other. Postings judged to be trolls/offensive will be reported to LJ abuse and/or deleted as we see fit.ANY SCREENCAPPING OR SNARKING IN SNARK COMMUNITIES OF POSTS IS A BANNABLE OFFENSE.
Do not delete your own posts/comments--like disclaimed above, if you can't take the heat stay out of the kitchen! If you are caught deleting comments or posts you will be banned from the community.
I will be posting informative posts about various topics several times per week. Eventually I will organize all of these into an easily accessed FAQ section once I have enough of them written.
Make sure you join the community instead of just watching it! All posts to the community are members-only, so if you don't join you won't be able to see anything.
If you're making a lengthy post, please use a cut.
